There’s one small thing that every small business owner can do to make their businesses look more professional. I know how it is running a small business, it seems like there is always something more to do, and we always want to provide a great client experience. We want to have a great team in our office. We want to do good work. We want to live our life’s mission and our passion. And we want to be professional as well because we have a business.

That being said, there’s one mistake that I see a lot of small businesses making, and that is the email address they are using. Yes, your email address. It is the simplest thing, yet it can make such a huge difference! If you have any email address at Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, or anything like that, it’s time for you to get an upgrade.

I didn’t do this for a long time because the truth is, I didn’t know how. I didn’t know how to get an email address for my URL. Side note: your URL is just your domain name. For example amigalawyers.com or allylozano.com, those are my URLs and domain names. So, of course, you want to have an email address that has that domain name in it. I didn’t know how to do that because I thought that it was something very tech savvy, and I’m certainly not that. And I told myself, well that’s for better business people than me. It is something way out of my league, maybe one day I’ll figure this out. But honestly, it is not hard. I’m going to tell you the secret and you’re going to wish you would have done it sooner!

So basically you just use G Suite through Gmail. If you go to gsuite.com you can set up an account. All you do is register your domain name, like allylozano.com, and then you can go in and you create multiple email addresses. So for example, you can have *protected email*, *protected email*, whatever it may be, and you can set up every email address within your office.

I was working with an attorney one on one doing consulting work and in her law firm she had emails like *protected email*, *protected email*, etc… it was very complicated. For a client, it would be very confusing, and it was overall a very inefficient way to keep track of emails. Now the great thing about the G Suite is that it provides you with a lot of storage. You’re able to make labels so you can archive messages. We’re always trying to get to that zero inbox! There are so many things that you can do with G Suite, and it’s only $5 per month, per user. So if it’s just you in your business and you want to have a work email and maybe an info email address, that is super easy and super cheap. This is something that you can do for $5 in 15 minutes, and it will transform your business.

I was afraid to change my email address because I was worried that all my other emails were going to get lost in the transfer, or that I’d have to keep my old email address open in addition to my new email address to keep all of my older emails. But the G Suite program will help you import all of your previous emails, and all of your contacts! They also have an excellent customer service team that will help you through it if needed. So you don’t need to be tech savvy, if you don’t even want to try figuring it out on your own you can just contact them. They can help you through the entire process starting from step one.
